Qatar attends dialogue on global law, humanitarian diplomacy

Qatar joined a significant ministerial dialogue on humanitarian diplomacy and adherence to international law, occurring during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, represented the nation at the event.

In her address, Dr al-Misnad emphasized Qatar's steadfast dedication to respecting humanitarian law and ensuring the delivery of aid to those impacted by conflict and natural disasters. She underscored the necessity of multilateral engagement in overcoming hurdles to humanitarian access, urging coordinated efforts from international and regional humanitarian bodies.

Dr al-Misnad highlighted Qatar's ongoing commitment to bolstering the role of humanitarian diplomacy in fostering a more comprehensive and inclusive humanitarian response, underpinned by a foreign policy grounded in dialogue and the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. She noted the nation's efforts in using mediation and good offices, in collaboration with the UN and humanitarian organizations, to establish humanitarian corridors, assist in detente releases, and reunite separated families, including children, in various conflict regions.
