Pune: PMC Deploys Medical Teams, Ambulances At 275 Locations For Ganesh Immersion

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Health Department has arranged medical services at 275 locations across Pune during Ganeshotsav, with special provisions for the immersion processions on Anant Chaturdashi. Health camps will be set up at major Ganesh mandals and municipal hospitals. Medical teams, including doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff, will be on duty at various locations throughout the festival.

At Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust, a dedicated health camp with three-bed ICU facility will offer emergency medical services. The PMC has deployed two physicians, three medical officers, four nurses, and one attendant at the camp to provide round-the-clock assistance. Medicines and necessary equipment are also being made available.

Special arrangements have been made for immersion processions, with ambulances stationed near Deccan Gymkhana, Natraj Talkies, and Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya on Laxmi Road. The PMC has also directed medical teams to various immersion ghats under the city’s 15 regional offices.

Pune has 120 hospitals providing services during Ganeshotsav, in addition to over 50 ambulances deployed. A review meeting held by Additional Municipal Commissioner on Sep 10 led to the issuance of instructions for health camps and emergency medical services. Over 157 patients were treated at the ICU facility at the Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust during last year's festival, with around 3,000 to 3,400 patients receiving medical treatment and services through PMC’s departments. On immersion days, around 700 to 800 patients were provided medical care.
