Pocognoli Facetime helps Miller over summer of discontent

Liverpool sits a considerable distance from Boston and Miami, with Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium and the home of the New England Patriots being two such locations, separated by 3,196 miles. This distance became relevant in March when Lennon Miller, an Udinese midfielder, was part of Steve Clarke's squad that played against Japan and the Ivory Coast in friendlies. Despite the fans' desire for experimentation, Miller did not play in any of those matches.

When Clarke's World Cup farewell against Curacao came around, Manchester United 19-year-old Tyler Fletcher was chosen over Miller, who had not made the World Cup cut. Miller's father, Lee, a former Scotland international, expressed the difficulty of the summer, stating, "There's no getting away from it." He emphasized the need for Miller to adapt and work hard, acknowledging that this wasn't meant to be his World Cup debut.

With Clarke's regime over and Sebastien Pocognoli taking the helm, Miller was brought back into the Scotland squad. At just 20 years old, Miller is now in his second season with Udinese and has made a significant impact, featuring in all five of his team's Serie A games and two Italy Cup wins. His father believes he is developing well and looks forward to seeing him impress his new manager.
