PN tanding semua kerusi DUN Melaka jika rundingan dengan BN gagal

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) party, in collaboration with the Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), may contest all seats in the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (DUN) elections if negotiations with the Barisan Nasional (BN) fail, according to PN Vice President Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik. However, he indicated that there is still a possibility for negotiations to establish cooperation between BN and PN, even though no formal decisions have been made yet.

In case BN refuses to cooperate and opts for a solo contest, PN remains open to collaboration with PAS, MIPP, and Gerakan, and plans to contest all DUN seats in Melaka, the report from Utusan Malaysia states. Additionally, Abdul Rahim, a former Melaka Chief Minister, also plans to contest the Bemban and Sungai Udang DUN seats regardless of whether a BN-PN collaboration exists during the elections, as both seats were previously won by Bersatu, which remains a PN component but is now in conflict with PAS, the party leading the coalition.

The Utusan Malaysia also cites a source stating that the Melaka State Government Meeting (MMKN) meeting, usually held on Wednesday, has been shortened by a day and is causing speculation that the Melaka DUN may be dissolved this weekend. A source added that Melaka Sultan, Ali Rustam, has already signed a notice of dissolution last week as he is currently abroad for official duties.

BN has mandated the Melaka BN chief, Ab Rauf Yusoh, to negotiate with any party for electoral cooperation in the PRN election of that state. PN Vice President Zahid Hamidi stated that coalition members selected must be loyal and honest. Zahid also mentioned that formal negotiations will only commence after the DUN Melaka is dissolved, which he expects will happen if negotiations with BN fail.
