PIA's New Crew Uniforms Spark Online Backlash: 'Focus On Improving Aircraft, Service Quality'

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) recently introduced new uniforms for its crew as part of a larger image overhaul. However, the decision has sparked criticism on social media, with users urging the financially struggling airline to prioritize enhancements in aircraft, services, and passenger experience. The uniform redesign came weeks after PIA expanded its fleet with three new aircraft while eliminating passenger discounts and reducing flight frequencies to cope with soaring jet fuel expenses.

The airline also withheld several international routes due to global supply chain disruptions caused by the US-Israel conflict with Iran. PIA showcased the new uniforms at a gala event earlier this month, highlighting the designs created by renowned Pakistani designers such as Maheen Khan, Deepak, and Nomi Ansari. The uniforms consist of two main colors: deep forest green and soft grey-blue.

For men, the attire features tailored jackets, crisp trousers, and patterned ties, while women's uniforms include fitted waistcoats, matching trousers, scarves, and caps. The makeover represents the first update to the crew's uniforms in ten years. However, many netizens question if the airline should focus on more critical aspects, such as improving aircraft, service quality, and customer experience, before redesigning their uniforms.
