‘PH Plus’ more of an electoral understanding, says Amirudin

PH election director Amirudin Shari has stated that the proposed 'Pakatan Harapan Plus' (PH Plus) agreement for the Melaka polls would likely be more of an electoral understanding than a new coalition. The PH Plus proposal is currently under discussion at the state level, and Amirudin needs to gather additional details on the outcome of these talks before referring the matter to the central PH leadership.

He clarified that a new coalition formation would not be feasible within the given timeframe. Amirudin suggested that the PH Plus agreement would be closer to a political understanding or electoral understanding rather than a full-fledged coalition. The discussions on the PH Plus alliance are ongoing, and the coalition will consider approving the alliance if it aligns with the needs and meets the current requirements of the People's Justice Party (PKR), which Amirudin represents.

State PH chairman Adly Zahari mentioned that the Melaka chapter is finalizing negotiations with parties that share similar aspirations, such as Bersatu, to form PH Plus. However, talks with Barisan Nasional, a crucial federal partner, have not yet begun. It is worth noting that Bersatu, which used to be a component of the PH coalition, left the coalition in February 2020 during the Sheraton Move, which led to the collapse of the federal government led by the People's Alliance (PH).
