Perishable Goods to Stay in Customs Warehouses Up to 3 Months

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has updated the list of perishable goods that can be stored in customs warehouses for up to three months, effective October 15, 2026. This change replaces a previous list issued in 1999. Under the updated regulations, notified perishable goods like betel leaves, cheese, eggs, milk powder, meat, and spices can remain in warehouses for three months, whereas other goods may stay for up to six months.

The revised list also includes tobacco, tea, cocoa, coffee, vegetables, fruits, edible vegetable oils, and oilseeds. Importers must ensure these products are stored in customs bonded warehouses in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. Warehouse licensees must provide a certification confirming their storage facilities meet these conditions, or face penalties under the Customs Act.
