Pensions Awareness Ireland launches AI retirement coach

Pensions Awareness Ireland has introduced an innovative AI retirement coach named Ali as part of its Pensions Awareness Week 2026 campaign. The AI model aims to empower employees to take control of their financial futures by providing clarity on their retirement planning. To function, Ali requires specific data inputs such as the user's current age, planned retirement age, annual gross income, and monthly pension contributions.

Once these details are entered, Ali generates a personalized dashboard illustrating the user's retirement income forecast and pension status. Users can then engage in a conversation with Ali, who provides tailored responses based on the user's unique circumstances. Ali's development team has programmed the AI to offer judgement-free guidance, helping employees explore potential adjustments to their retirement plans in a judgement-free digital environment.

This initiative aims to demystify retirement planning and make it more accessible to individuals. Additionally, Ireland recently implemented the Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Act 2025, which grants employees the right to stay employed beyond their contractual retirement age, provided it is below the State Pension age of 66.

This allows workers to extend their employment for reasons such as working towards a more financially stable retirement.
