Osun APC rejects Accord claim of violent motor park take over

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed claims from the state chapter of Accord that the party was working with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader, MC Oluomo, to forcibly seize control of motor parks throughout the state. The APC's Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, released a statement on Monday, labeling the allegation as "ill-conceived, false, and fabricated."

This came after Pastor Victor Akande, the Osun State chairman of Accord, alleged on Sunday that MC Oluomo was collaborating with Kazeem Oyewale, known as Asiri Eniba, and certain members of APC to seize control of motor parks.

The APC refuted these claims, asserting that they had no involvement in the administration or activities of the NURTW, an organization the party is not constitutionally responsible for. They further stated that any attempt by the Osun State government to interfere with the NURTW's affairs would be considered an unconstitutional encroachment, in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The APC also criticized the proposal for the establishment of a Park Management System by the state government, stating that the management, establishment, and regulation of motor parks are the responsibilities of local government councils, as per Section 7(1) of the 1999 Constitution. They highlighted the ongoing leadership crisis within the Osun NURTW and recent violent incidents, including the killing of Olamilekan Oyeyemi (Emir Ajagungbade) in Ile-Ife on September 13, 2026.

The party urged the public and the police to disregard the Accord's allegations, describing them as "frivolous, reckless, diversionary, and without any proof." They emphasized that any interference by the state government in the NURTW's affairs would be deemed a breach of the constitution. The APC expected the state government to focus on governance rather than making unsubstantiated allegations and emphasized their focus on political activities leading up to the 2027 presidential election.
