No plan to increase electricity tariff, says FG

The Nigerian Federal Government has affirmed that it has no intention to raise electricity tariffs, according to the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe. This assurance was made during a media briefing in Abuja, marking the first 100 days of Tegbe's tenure since June 8 to September 16. Tegbe emphasized that the priority for the government is to enhance the supply of electricity and fortify the structural and physical dimensions of the power sector, rather than burdening consumers with additional expenses.

The announcement comes in the context of worries about the long-term viability of the electricity industry and the future of government backing for the sector.
