“Nigerians annoyed me” — Bimbo Akintola reveals why she supported Tinubu

Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has disclosed her motive for openly supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the recent presidential election. The revelation comes from an interview she granted to Chude, where she criticized Nigerians for their bullying behavior towards those who hold different political views. Akintola specifically mentioned veteran actress Joke Silva as an individual who faced intense online harassment due to her endorsement of Tinubu.

This treatment, she said, inspired her to join Tinubu's camp and publicly declare her support for the APC presidential candidate despite facing criticism.

"I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because Nigerians annoyed me with their bullying," Akintola stated. Following the hostile backlash against Silva, she produced a video affirming her decision to back Tinubu, despite the negative responses. "They bullied Aunty Joke to the point that someone wrote something that was so inhumane. So, I made a video and said, 'I’m also supporting Tinubu, kill me, let me see if you can change my mind,'" she recalled.

Akintola emphasized the importance of respecting differing political opinions, urging Nigerians to refrain from bullying those with opposing views. "Nigerians are annoying. Don’t bully other people. We have our rights to differences of opinion. You don’t like this man, cool, you have the right not to like him. You prefer this person, good for you. But don’t bully others," she advised.
