New Era secures 20-year power deal for Texas data center

MIDLAND, Texas - New Era Energy & Digital, Inc. has secured a 20-year power purchase agreement with Luminant ET Services Company, an affiliate of Vistra Corp. The agreement will supply 200-207 MW of power for the Texas Critical Data Center project, sourced from Vistra's 1,180 MW natural gas-powered facility in Odessa, Texas. The power delivery begins in Q3 2027, with an initial 20-year term and one-year renewals.

Vistra receives a 5% non-voting interest in the project following power delivery commencement. A framework agreement grants Vistra rights to future development opportunities at both TCDC and other New Era projects. New Era's Chairman and CEO, Charlie Nelson, expressed pride in the partnership, while Vistra's Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Claudia Morrow, welcomed the long-term power arrangement. TCDC is a 493-acre site in the Permian Basin, with plans to scale to 1.4 GW capacity.
