Navi Mumbai Voters Can File Electoral Roll Claims & Objections Till September 30 Under SIR Drive

Navi Mumbai residents have until September 30 to file claims and objections regarding the draft electoral rolls released under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, according to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The Election Commission of India has launched the SIR process to enhance the accuracy and transparency of electoral rolls. The revised draft rolls were made public on August 31, providing voters with a month to request changes or corrections to their information.

Delhi Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Election Commissioner SS Sandhu have been notified about discrepancies in voter details. The claims and objections deadline is fast approaching, with the deadline for submitting claims and objections on September 30. The final electoral rolls will be published on November 4, after the claims and objections are processed by October 29.

To become eligible voters, citizens aged 18 and above can now register themselves as voters through Form 6 if they have been omitted from the electoral rolls or Form 7 to raise objections against incorrect or duplicate entries. For corrections or changes in their electoral roll details such as name, age, address, and photograph, citizens can use Form 8.

Voters can submit these forms in person at the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) offices or online through the Election Commission's Voter Services Portal, ECINET mobile application, or Voter Helpline App.

The NMMC has encouraged voters to submit their claims and objections before the deadline, especially those who have recently turned 18 and eligible to register as voters.
