Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli becomes Chelsea’s youngest ever Premier League player

On September 18, 2026, Chelsea FC welcomed their youngest ever Premier League player, Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli, into their ranks. The talented 16-year-old made his professional debut late in the match against Brentford, securing a notable record in the process. Jody Morris had previously held this title since 1996, debuting at the age of 17 years and 44 days.

Nicoll-Jazuli surpasses this record at the tender age of 16 years and 255 days, becoming the first 16-year-old to play in the Premier League and the first player born in the 2010s to play in the competition.

Nicoll-Jazuli has already made a name for himself in other competitions, having become Chelsea's UEFA Youth League player and goalscorer at the age of 15. Despite this impressive record, he is not the youngest player to represent Chelsea this season in all competitions. Reggie Watson, also 16 years old, made his full debut against Leeds United in the League Cup just a week prior.

Additionally, Reggie Walsh holds the record for the youngest player to play in a European competition for Chelsea, joining the team at the age of 16 years and 193 days during a UEFA Conference League match in May 2025.

In total, there are now nine 16-year-olds who have represented Chelsea throughout the club's history, with only two of them being younger than Nicoll-Jazuli or the two Reggies, who made their debuts in 1967: Ian Hamilton and Kingsley Whiffen. Both Hamilton and Whiffen combined for just six appearances between them, so the hope is that these two recent teenage debutants will have more significant opportunities to showcase their skills in the future.
