LittleHorse adds agent controls and free serverless trial to its ‘Business-as-Code’ orchestration platform

LittleHorse, a company specializing in workflow orchestration software, has launched version 1.3 of its Saddle Command Center platform. This update introduces free serverless trial, prebuilt task workers, JavaScript software development kit, and Apache Kafka-compatible streaming engine.

The new version addresses the complexities of coordinating multiple applications, SaaS integrations, and manual procedures by converting business processes into version-controlled software represented as a graph, known as "Business-as-Code." Founder and CEO Colt McNealy explains that the fragmentation of processes across various applications makes it challenging for enterprises to adopt agents due to lack of context and difficulty in coordinating tasks at the right time.

The new release includes an agent controls feature based on the "decision worker pattern." Agents receive read-only access to tools and handle judgment-based tasks. Deterministic workflow code then validates the agent's output and carries out actions, ensuring proper authority distribution. Users can now configure agents by selecting Model Context Protocol servers, defining system prompts, and specifying input and output structures.

Saddle Command Center 1.3 also supports Java, Python, Go, and C#, with JavaScript added in this update. A free serverless trial option is available for developers to test the platform without provisioning infrastructure. LittleHorse has been in production for over 18 months and has secured paying customers across multiple industries, with annual revenue expected to exceed $1 million.
