Liberian Registry Supports Strengthened Flag and Port State Cooperation with China MSA

The Liberian Registry recently engaged with the Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) of China and the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) to enhance cooperation between their respective maritime administrations. Representatives from the Liberian Registry participated in technical exchanges, contributing their operational experience overseeing the world's largest trading fleet.

A joint vessel inspection conducted by LiMA and China MSA allowed for collaboration and exchange of perspectives on vessel oversight and international compliance. Flag and Port States share the objective of ensuring vessels operate safely, and direct relationships between them are vital for effective communication, trend understanding, and proactive issue resolution.

Alfonso Castillero, Chief Executive Officer of the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), emphasized the importance of strong Flag State performance and open, technical, and proactive engagements with Port States. The visit reflects the Liberian Registry's commitment to maintaining fleet quality through direct engagement with maritime authorities worldwide.

The existing Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between Liberia and China further supports this collaboration. The Liberian Registry expressed gratitude to LiMA and China MSA for the opportunity to strengthen cooperation and support safe, efficient, and quality international shipping.
