(LEAD) (Asiad) S. Korean fencers, swimmers set to headline Asian Games events

NAGOYA, Japan - South Korean fencers, led by Song Se-ra, are aiming for their second consecutive gold in women's team epee at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday. The team previously won the event at the 2018 Hangzhou Asian Games, a victory that had not been seen in roughly two decades. Song, a key player in the gold-winning squad from the previous Games, also earned silver in the individual event three years ago.

In the swimming pool, South Korean swimmers Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Young-beom are targeting their third medal in the men's 4x100-meter medley relay. Hwang claimed silver in the men's 100m freestyle event on Sunday, while Kim won bronze in the same race. On Monday, Kim secured gold in the 50m freestyle, and Hwang added bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay. Kim Woo-min, a member of the relay team, will compete in the 1,500m freestyle event.

South Korean shooters are seeking their first gold medal in the sport, having earned two bronze medals to date. Ban Hyo-jin and Park Ha-jun will compete in the mixed team event for the 10m air rifle. Ban finished third in the individual women's 10m air rifle event, while Park also won bronze in the men's team event on Sunday. The women's volleyball team will face Thailand in the bronze medal match.
