Kindiki takes up elders’ unity mandate as he rallies Mt Kenya behind Ruto

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has taken on the mantle of unity for the Mt Kenya region, urging leaders to heed the advice of elders who have declared him a unifying figure. Kindiki emphasized that elders hold a unique role in preserving community unity, as they are not competing for political positions or influence. He stated that political differences should not tear apart communities with shared histories and interests.

Kindiki accepted the mandate from the Mt Kenya elders to lead reconciliation efforts and pledged to respect their guidance. He urged the community to turn to elders for advice on issues and maintain a unified political voice ahead of the 2027 General Election. The elders, representing the Ameru, Embu, Mbeere, and Gikuyu communities, met at Kirigiti Stadium and declared Kindiki as a unifying force for the region.

Kindiki's duties include promoting unity, pursuing development, and supporting President William Ruto. He emphasized that his role is to unite people, foster development for all Kenyan communities, and ensure that Mt Kenya communities receive their fair share of development. Kindiki called on Mt Kenya leaders to respect differing political views while avoiding divisions that could weaken the region.

He urged leaders to focus on development and avoid personal attacks, stating that he has forgiven those who have insulted him and is seeking collaboration to build the nation together. Kindiki highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in Tharaka Nithi, such as the Mukothima-Gaciongo-Gatunga Road and the Kithaga-Matiri Road, to demonstrate the government's commitment to development in previously neglected areas.
