Kedah PKR says Umno dissolution push serves political interests, not urgent need for stability

Alor Setar, September 21 — The Kedah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has rejected the call by the Kedah Umno Strategic Communications director to dissolve Parliament, stating that there is no urgent need for such action. MPN Communications director Tunku Nashrul Abaidah emphasized that the call was politically motivated and did not reflect the Madani government's stability.

He highlighted that Umno, being a part of the government, must adhere to the principle of collective responsibility. Nashrul also pointed out that the recent reaffirmation by Umno president that the party would remain in the Unity Government until the end of its term contradicted the call for dissolution. The MPN director questioned whether Kedah Umno still respected its president and the party's commitment or if it prioritized political maneuvering over the country's stability.

He stressed that being in government entails responsibility towards the people and the nation, especially during a time when they expect the government to focus on economic issues and the well-being of citizens. Kedah PKR reiterated its stance that the mandate given to it should be used to address the people's problems until the end of the term, rather than yielding to political interests.
