Jalgaon: One Million Students To Watch Short Film ‘Jyoti’ Simultaneously Across Maharashtra

In a historic initiative across Maharashtra, approximately one million students will concurrently watch the short film Jyoti on Tuesday, September 22, to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jotiba Phule. Organized by the Ajanta Film Society, the event will involve students from 1,800 schools spanning 28 districts. The goal is to set a record for the largest simultaneous screening of a film in Indian cinema and education, while imparting valuable lessons to the young audience.

The film, produced by renowned actor, director, and writer Prof Yogesh Soman, portrays the lives, struggles, and contributions of Phule and his wife, Savitribai Phule, particularly their groundbreaking work in women's education. The Ajanta Film Society, active for the past 14 years, promotes film awareness, provides a platform for emerging talent, and emphasizes the Indian perspective through cinema.

Additionally, the organization conducts technical workshops for college students on film appreciation, direction, and screenwriting.

The initiative also aims to instill the values and educational ideals of Mahatma Jotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule in students through cinema. By screening the film simultaneously for one million students in 1,800 schools, the society hopes to inspire the youth and raise awareness about the significant contributions of these educational pioneers. The Ajanta Film Society has called upon students, teachers, and parents to participate in the program, emphasizing its social message.
