Iran confirms President Pezeshkian’s US trip for UN meeting

Iran has officially announced that President Masoud Pezeshkian will be traveling to the United States to participate in this week's United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. During his visit, Pezeshkian is slated to deliver a speech and articulate Iran's stance on numerous global issues, including the ongoing conflict. He will also engage in bilateral discussions with leaders from several nations during the high-profile UN meeting, according to Tasnim state media.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, a prominent figure in Iran's international diplomacy, will join Pezeshkian in the United States after a short layover in Qatar. The 81st session of the UNGA, themed "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All," is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 26, with a closing ceremony on September 28.

Furthermore, Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has approved a provision within a bill concerning the security and development of the Strait of Hormuz. Article 10 of the legislation mandates the construction, operation, and expansion of communication and information technology infrastructure, including fiber-optic networks, within the Strait.

Concurrently, the US Central Command has revealed that its forces are persistently maintaining the naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports in both the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. In a recent statement on X (formerly Twitter), CENTCOM announced that they had redirected 109 commercial vessels to guarantee full adherence to the blockade.
