I have no hand in the demolition of Laboma Beach – Nmati Abonase Quarter head

Nmati Abonase Quarter Head La Shikitele Nii Adjei Koofeh IV has refuted allegations of involvement in the demolition of structures at Laboma Beach. He maintains his innocence, stating that he was wrongly targeted by vendors and business owners affected by the exercise. Despite repeated warnings and directives from authorities to cease development, the quarter leader contends that occupants ignored these instructions.

These warnings came from a former Regional Minister, the current Regional Minister, and a 21-day notice, yet construction persisted. The traditional leader asserts that the Laboma people did not own the land allegedly sold to the affected vendors. He urges those claiming to have purchased land to seek the original sellers, rather than blaming him for the demolition.

Laboma Beach's demolition has impacted several businesses and structures, with authorities citing the need to clear illegal developments and protect the Kpeshie Lagoon and its surroundings. The Nmati Abonase Quarter Head has called on affected vendors and business owners to direct their grievances to those allegedly responsible for selling them the disputed land and to allow authorities to handle the matter.
