I-dle's Soyeon sweeps charts with anthem about quitting work

Seoul, September 21 - K-pop girl group i-dle's leader, Soyeon, has recently dominated South Korean music charts with her anthem about leaving one's job. Her solo track "I'm Gonna Toesa" (featuring Kian84) claimed the top spot on Melon's highly sought-after Top 100 songs chart as of 10 a.m. on Monday. The song also topped the real-time charts on Genie, Vibe, Flo, and Bugs.

The Korean word "toesa" translates to quitting a job. "I'm Gonna Toesa" is the lead single from Soyeon's debut full-length solo album, "What a Wonderful Life," which was released on September 7. The track merges a band-led sound with candid lyrics about resigning from employment. Kian84, a cartoonist and television personality, provides narration for the song.

Soyeon made her solo debut with the EP "Windy" in July 2021 before returning with her first solo studio album. In her statement, Soyeon expressed gratitude to everyone who has shown support for her music, as well as to i-dle's fandom, Neverland. She stated, "I will continue to make music that serves as a small breath of fresh air in many people's lives."
