Himanshu Dhillon’s journey: From rice fields to the Asian Games silver

Himanshu Dhillon's wrestling background was initially intended as an inheritance for his family, but his early attempts proved unsuccessful. Initially, he tried shooting, which he found too easy, and even briefly considered wrestling. However, it was only during the Covid lockdowns that he discovered his passion for the sport. Working on his family's rice farm, Himanshu transitioned from casual shooting to serious practice.

Despite initial setbacks, including a poor first shot and financial struggles, Himanshu's father, Shamsher, supported his decision to pursue wrestling. With the help of scholarships and support from organizations like Olympic Gold Quest, Himanshu competed in the Asian Games. On the day of the competition, he experienced intense pressure and self-doubt, but was ultimately encouraged by his coach and psychologist.

His father's unwavering support fueled him to win a silver medal. Himanshu hopes that his achievement will inspire future generations, much like his inspiration, Virat Kohli.
