Harvestfield Healthcare begins production of next-generation insecticide-treated nets

Harvestfield Healthcare FZE has begun producing Synera DuoForte, a next-generation insecticide-treated net in Nigeria, signaling a new era in the nation's ability to manufacture a crucial malaria prevention tool locally. The company's manufacturing plant in Ogun State's Harvestfield Free Trade Zone initiated operations on September 13, 2026.

The facility is already supplying a World Bank-funded program covering 31 states. It is the first Nigerian-owned facility specializing in dual active ingredient long-lasting insecticidal nets of the pyrethroid-chlorfenapyr class, manufactured under a partnership with GDM Health Products. These nets, unlike traditional ones that primarily use pyrethroids, incorporate a second insecticide, providing continued effectiveness even when mosquitoes develop resistance to pyrethroids, a common issue across much of Nigeria.

The Synera DuoForte is recognized by the World Health Organisation as a pre-qualified product. The Harvestfield facility, certified by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and ISO, is recognized as a prequalification manufacturing site. This development aligns with the Nigerian government's commitment to enhancing domestic health product production under the Renewed Hope agenda, the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain, and the Nigeria First procurement policy.
