Governor calls for collective action to keep environment clean

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi has urged both individual and collective efforts to foster cleanliness and safeguard the environment, asserting that a clean and healthy environment is an inherent right of every citizen. In his message on World Cleanup Day, the Governor emphasized that this international observance underscores the necessity of active involvement from governments, communities, and individuals alike.

"World Cleanup Day underscores the importance of collective responsibility for cleanliness," Hashmi stated, advocating for cleanliness to become an integral and enduring aspect of daily life. He emphasized that a clean and healthy environment is vital for citizens' well-being and quality of life, arguing that the pursuit of cleanliness should extend beyond isolated campaigns and become a sustained social practice.

The Governor further stressed the importance of responsible use and disposal of plastic and other waste, contending that heightened public awareness and responsible waste management could significantly curb environmental pollution. He called for intensified efforts to educate and involve young people on the significance of cleanliness, environmental preservation, and proper waste disposal, asserting that the youthful generation plays a pivotal role in shaping a cleaner, healthier future.

Hashmi highlighted that both the government and citizens must collaborate to achieve a clean Sindh and a healthy Pakistan, stressing that effective environmental protection necessitates both institutional measures and responsible conduct at the individual and community levels. "Let us pledge to keep our cities, province and country clean," he urged.

The Governor underscored that World Cleanup Day offers an opportunity to reinvigorate commitment to environmental protection and reminded everyone of their individual and collective responsibility to maintain clean, healthy surroundings.
