Gonzaga’s Anton Watson Signs Training Camp Deal With Los Angeles Lakers, Soon After Waived

Anton Watson, a former Gonzaga University forward, has signed a training camp deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and was subsequently waived by the team. Watson, who was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, had a brief stint with the New York Knicks where he averaged minimal statistics over nine games.

After his release from the Knicks, Lakers signed Watson in September 2025. The Lakers have also signed Meechie Johnson and Chase Ross, indicating a series of training camp moves. Watson, from Spokane, Washington, averaged 7.6 points per game in seven NBA Summer League games this year, shooting 34.0% from the field, 19.2% from three-point range, and converting 100% of his free throws.
