Gernot Döllner, presidente de Audi: “China nos está presionando. Confío en que Europa encuentre soluciones”

Gernot Döllner, president of Audi, has stated that China is exerting pressure on the company and he trusts that Europe will find solutions.

The Volkswagen Group has announced plans to cut 50,000 more jobs by 2030, following an earlier reduction of another 50,000. This has sent shockwaves through the German automotive consortium. Audi, as a key part of Volkswagen, must adapt, and Döllner has been at the helm of the brand's historic transformation for the past three years since his appointment.

Döllner discusses the challenges of transitioning from combustion vehicles to electric ones, acknowledging the lower profitability of the latter. He points out that Markus Haupt, CEO of Seat and Cupra, shares this view and that Seat's future remains uncertain due to its thin margins.

However, Döllner remains optimistic about the future of electric vehicles. He anticipates that regulations on emissions will change starting in 2030, making the landscape different. While the cost of electric cars may not match that of combustion engines globally, he believes the two will eventually become comparable.
