Fresenius Kabi inaugurated a new production line in Verona, Italy, as part of a broader three-year investment plan totaling 100 million euros. The 28 million euro investment is aimed at increasing the capacity for plastic bottle production used in infusion therapies. The plant, located in Isola della Scala, is one of the major European hubs for infusion solution production.

Daily, millions of patients in Italian and European hospitals receive infusion therapies, which deliver life-saving medications, hydration, clinical nutrition, and support surgical and intensive care interventions. Ensuring uninterrupted care requires investing in the facilities where these infusion therapies are produced, ensuring a stable supply even during periods of international instability.

The site currently covers about 40% of the national hospital demand for infusion solutions and serves as a strategic infrastructure for Italy's healthcare system.

Fresenius Kabi operates five production sites in Italy and two research and development centers, demonstrating the company's strong presence in the country. The expansion of the Isola della Scala facility is part of Fresenius' "local for local" strategy, aiming to produce medicines in the same regions where they are used, reducing dependence on third-party supplies and enhancing supply chain resilience.

The productivity enhancement in Verona will be accompanied by a broader technological innovation program at the site, underscoring Fresenius' commitment to industrial development, professional expertise enhancement, and local job growth. The industrial investment strengthens Italy and Europe's ability to ensure the availability of critical medicines, reducing supply chain vulnerabilities and contributing to the continent's healthcare safety.

The Isola della Scala expansion fits into Fresenius Kabi's "local for local" strategy, aiming to produce medicines in the same areas where they are used, reducing reliance on third-party supplies and increasing supply chain resilience. Fresenius Kabi offers a wide portfolio of drugs, medical technologies, nutritional solutions, and active ingredients, supporting healthcare professionals and patients across the country.

With five production sites, a distribution center, and two research and development centers, Italy is a strategic hub for the company's European Pharma, MedTech, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) operations. Over 90% of Fresenius Kabi's products sold in Europe are manufactured on the continent. Italian sites specialize in antibiotic production, active ingredients, infusion solutions, and blood treatment medical devices, employing around 1,400 people.
