Fremantle legend in tears as he's bestowed cup honour

Fremantle legend Shaun McManus has been named the club's cup presenter for the upcoming AFL grand final, bringing tears to his eyes upon learning of the honor. The Brisbane team has yet to choose their presenter, following in the footsteps of three-time premiership player Jonathan Brown, who performed the role last year for their victory over Geelong. McManus, a founding member of the 1995 Fremantle squad, will present the AFL premiership cup to Brisbane captain Alex Pearce if the Dockers secure their first-ever flag. The club's chief, Simon Garlick, praised McManus as an embodiment of the club's values, highlighting his remarkable career and his pivotal role since the team's early days. McManus began his AFL journey at 19, playing 228 games across 14 seasons, and captained the team alongside Adrian Fletcher from 2000 to 2001.

McManus transitioned to a player development coach after retiring in 2008, remaining actively involved with the club. Standing as the ninth-highest game record holder in Fremantle's history and the second to reach the 200-game milestone, McManus continues to be a passionate and positive influence for the club.
