Foreign renters now dominate the rental market in two Costa Blanca hotspots

International renters are increasingly popular in Calpe and Moraira, two towns in Costa Blanca. According to data from property portal Idealista, overseas demand now makes up more than half of all rental searches in these towns. In the first quarter of 2026, international searches accounted for 53 percent of rental demand in Calpe and 52 percent in Moraira.

This means that more than half of the people looking for rental properties were based outside Spain. The Marina Alta region has seen a surge in international interest, with only Mallorca's Andratx recording a higher proportion at 60 percent. Dutch, British, Swiss, and Austrian renters are among those showing strong interest in Moraira, while the appeal of the Marina Alta extends beyond these two towns.

Alicante province also recorded 26 percent international rental demand, placing it alongside the Balearic Islands for the highest proportion among Spain's provinces. The trend highlights the growing international allure of Spain's Mediterranean lifestyle, with more than half of rental searches in Calpe and Moraira now coming from abroad.
