Five-year-old girl found dead after uncle allegedly throws her into river in Johor

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Supt Yusof Othman reported the discovery of a five-year-old girl's body, allegedly thrown into a river by her uncle in Kampung Padang, Tanjung Sedili. According to the police, the incident unfolded this morning when a 37-year-old local man, armed with a machete, began pursuing a 40-year-old man.

The police statement revealed that the suspect's actions had been preceded by the alleged throwing of the five-year-old victim into the river. Upon receiving information about the tragic event, a police team promptly arrived at the scene. During the ensuing struggle, one police officer sustained injuries, but the suspect was eventually apprehended.

A medical assistant confirmed the girl's demise, and her body was transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital before being transferred to Pasir Gudang Hospital's Forensic Department for a post-mortem examination. The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the authorities. The suspect is also suspected of suffering from mental health issues. The case is currently under investigation pursuant to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
