Filipe Luís praised Matthis Abline, describing him as "a very dangerous player" and stating that if the club bought him, it was because they believe he has the potential to become one of the best attackers in the world. Abline (23) made his first start since joining AS Monaco on Friday night, in a 2-1 win against RC Lens. Although he did not score, he made an impact by finding the back of the net twice, though both goals were flagged offside.

Abline also assisted Paris Brunner's opening goal and dominated Jean-Clair Todibo, resulting in the latter's substitution at halftime. After missing around two weeks of high-intensity training due to a foot injury sustained during a pre-season match against Coventry City, Abline has gradually returned to first-team action.
