Ex-TH Properties senior executive charged over RM14k contractor penalty payment

Former TH Properties deputy general manager of construction, Tengku Kamarolhisham Tengku Kamaruddin, has been charged with abetting a RM14,000 criminal breach of trust involving penalty payments from a contractor for a commercial development project in Kota Bharu. Tengku Kamaruddin, 55, pleaded not guilty at Sessions Court in Malaysia, where he was accused of causing the RM14,000 collected as penalties from Kelpile Sdn Bhd to be deposited into Mohamad Hashim Mukhatap's bank account.

Mohamad Hashim, then construction manager of THP Timur Sdn Bhd, is also facing the same charge. The alleged offence took place at Sofea Residensi, Section 12, Kota Bharu, between November 15, 2017, and August 8, 2018. If convicted, Tengku Kamaruddin could face a prison sentence of between two and 20 years, whipping, and a fine. The charge is under Section 409 of the Penal Code.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy public prosecutor Asmah Che Wan appeared for the prosecution, while Tengku Kamaruddin's legal representative, Fahmi Abd Moin, requested bail of RM8,000 with one surety, citing his client's self-employment, six children, and health issues. The court fixed Oct 19 for the mention of the case.
