EU Ambassador meets IGP over stronger security cooperation

On a recent visit to Ghana, the European Union (EU) Ambassador, Rune Skinnebach, met with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between the EU and the Ghana Police Service. The primary objective of the meeting was to build upon existing EU support for the Police Service, particularly in initiatives designed to bolster the capacity and effectiveness of the service.

Areas of collaboration encompassed police training, community policing, forensic investigations, cybersecurity, crime scene management, and other capacity-building programs. The IGP expressed gratitude to the EU for its ongoing support and emphasized the need for deeper collaboration in critical areas such as cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, specialized training, and community policing.

Ambassador Skinnebach, in turn, affirmed the EU's dedication to partnering with the Ghana Police Service to bolster policing and contribute to the promotion of security and the rule of law in the country. This meeting is part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the Ghana Police Service in tackling emerging security challenges and advancing police capabilities.
