Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group Launch Integrated Rail Service, Connecting Fujairah Terminals with Abu Dhabi’s Industrial Heartland

Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group have joined forces to establish a new rail service connecting Fujairah Terminals, situated on the UAE's East Coast, with Abu Dhabi's Industrial City (ICAD). This integrated rail solution aims to streamline cargo transportation, customs clearance, inspection, and release services for businesses in the region.

By utilizing a dedicated rail freight service three times per week, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and cargo owners can now directly book cargo to ICAD as the destination and clearance point. The partnership also includes the designation of ICAD with its own UN LOCODE "AECAD," recognizing it as a vital international logistics location within global shipping and trade systems.

This collaboration aims to improve trade connections, enhance scalability for high-volume cargo movements, and reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional long-haul trucking. Omar Alsebeyi, Etihad Rail's Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the service unlocks the full potential of the UAE National Rail Network while strengthening multimodal cargo flows.

Saif Al Mazrouei, AD Ports Group's Chief Executive Officer, highlighted that the partnership brings together key gateways and industrial ecosystems, providing businesses with greater flexibility and resilience in their logistics processes. The launch of the service reflects the shared commitment of Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group to bolster the UAE's logistics and trade infrastructure, positioning Abu Dhabi as a prominent trade and industry hub in the region.
