Despite his significant impact, Wilson's name was not widely recognized. Founding Transition Records and later joining Savoy Records, Wilson played a pivotal role in shaping the musical landscape through his productions.

Notably, Wilson worked with iconic artists such as Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, The Velvet Underground, Hugh Masekela, and The Animals. His production work included landmark albums like The Times They Are A-Changin’ and Bringing It All Back Home by Bob Dylan, as well as the iconic single “Like A Rolling Stone.” Wilson's ability to blend diverse musical genres mirrored the eclectic trends of the time and his dedication to uncovering authenticity in pop music.

Tragically, Wilson's contributions were not fully acknowledged during his lifetime. Cultural critic Steven E. Jones, author of The Old, Weird America and Deliver Me From Nowhere, seeks to rectify this oversight in his book Everything Is Everything: Tom Wilson And Pop Music In 1966, published by Stanford University Press on September 28.
