Enphase meter collar gains approval from 80 US, Canada utilities

FREMONT, Calif. - Enphase Energy, a company specializing in microinverter-based solar and battery systems, has announced that its IQ Meter Collar has received approval from 80 utilities serving over 38 million customers in the United States and Canada, according to a press release. This microgrid interconnection device, which mounts behind the utility meter or on a standalone meter socket, enables whole-home backup without requiring complex installations.

The IQ Meter Collar is part of Enphase's 4th-generation energy system, which includes the IQ Battery 10C and IQ Combiner 6C, and comes with a 15-year limited warranty. Ken Fong, senior vice president of sales at Enphase Energy, stated that utility approvals are essential for scaling whole-home backup systems. With the IQ Meter Collar now approved by these 80 utilities, the company believes it has removed a significant obstacle to battery adoption.

The device is designed to reduce equipment, wiring complexity, and installation time. Enphase Energy, based in Fremont, California, has shipped approximately 89.4 million microinverters and has deployed over 5.3 million Enphase-based systems in more than 165 countries.
