Ecobank, Joy Business to host financial dialogue on green finance and inclusive agri-growth in Ghana

Ecobank Ghana PLC and Joy Business will co-host a financial dialogue on September 22 to explore how green finance can drive sustainable and inclusive growth in Ghana's agriculture sector. The event, themed "Green Finance, Real Impact: Powering Inclusive Agri-Growth in Ghana," will gather agricultural SMEs, entrepreneurs, regulators, media, and other stakeholders at Ecobank's Accra headquarters at 8:00 a.m. Regina Ofori, Ecobank's Head of Marketing and Brand, explained that the dialogue aims to make green finance practical and accessible for businesses and individuals, focusing on capital mobilization for modernizing agriculture and supporting agro-enterprises across the value chain.

Mrs Ofori emphasized the connection between the dialogue and Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's development priorities, particularly his emphasis on agriculture and food production. The event follows Ghana's recent Founder's Day celebrations, which underscored the need for economic independence and self-sufficiency. Ofori stressed that green finance should not be confined to large companies or specialized investors, but rather applicable to farmers, agro-processors, entrepreneurs, and consumers.

The dialogue will address the barriers to accessing green finance and explore financing solutions for agriculture-focused SMEs, bringing together participants from across the agricultural and financial sectors to discuss practical ways to expand finance access, promote innovation, and strengthen agricultural value chains. Ghana launched its Green Finance Taxonomy in 2024 to guide sustainable finance efforts aligned with environmental and climate objectives.

The Ecobank-Joy Business Financial Dialogue is part of a recurring platform for stakeholders to tackle critical economic and business issues affecting Ghana, with a focus on agriculture and sustainable financing for this edition.
