Deepavali Bazaar fees slashed 85pc, Hannah Yeoh sets RM400 cap in Brickfields

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 21 — Kuala Lumpur's 2026 Deepavali Bazaar has slashed participation fees by 85 per cent, capping fees at RM400, including the deposit, according to Minister Hannah Yeoh. This year's fee includes a RM30 licence, RM150 service charge, RM150 site rental and RM70 deposit, a significant reduction from the RM2,626 fee in 2025, which comprised a RM21 licence, RM105 service charge, RM500 site rental and RM2,000 deposit.

The trading period has been extended to 30 days from 21 days, and the number of trading lots has increased. Hannah Yeoh stressed the focus on reducing costs for traders and offering a longer period for business, adding that the benefits would reach both traders and city residents. Anyone interested should apply directly to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), emphasizing that no middlemen are charging thousands of ringgit for the fee.

The 2026 Deepavali Bazaar will be held from Oct 9 to Nov 7 at two locations, the Tun Sambanthan Complex car park and Jalan Bunus 6 off Jalan Masjid India, with 172 trading lots available across the sites. DBKL will retain responsibility for licensing, regulation and enforcement, while associations assist with operations under the Mega Deepavali concept.
