Declan Rice and Cole Palmer lead five withdrawals from England squad

Declan Rice and Cole Palmer are among five players who have withdrawn from England's squad for upcoming Nations League games, according to Thomas Tuchel's first squad since the World Cup. Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, and Tino Livramento have also left the team due to injuries. Palmer, who was recently recalled by Tuchel after missing the World Cup, is reportedly dealing with a minor muscle injury.

Despite his recent participation in Chelsea's matches, the 24-year-old has faced challenges due to persistent injuries. Manchester United's Michael Carrick confirmed Rashford's issue occurred during a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday, with the forward substituted due to what appeared to be a hip problem. Mainoo, who did not play during the World Cup but was previously part of the squad, was also substituted during the final stages of the Fulham match.

Gibbs-White, a 26-year-old Nottingham Forest player, received his first England call-up in nearly a year. Despite scoring the most Premier League goals this calendar year, he was not selected for the World Cup squad. The 26-year-old has yet to start a match for England but was part of the last six caps he earned for the team. Tuchel's squad will face four matches in a three-week international break, starting with a game against World Cup winners Spain at Wembley on September 26.
