'Clarify Your Legal Status': IIT Bombay Professor Tells Faculty Forum After Body Defends Suryanarayana Doolla Amid Student Death Probe

IIT Bombay Professor Suryakant Waghmore has publicly distanced himself from the Faculty Forum's statement backing Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, following the death of student Sahil Wakode. Waghmore tweeted "Not me!!" to indicate that he did not identify with the Faculty Forum's position. In an email to Faculty Forum President Rajkumar S. Pant, Waghmore questioned the forum's legal status and objected to its intervention in the ongoing matter, stating that the Faculty Forum is not a legal body and building pressure on the investigation committee.

Waghmore accused the Faculty Forum of taking sides and lacking sympathy for Wakode and his family. He also warned that he would consider legal action against Pant if he received further emails on the matter.
