Belgium’s NewSchool VC closes maiden fund at €10 million at to back B2B technology startups

Belgium's NewSchool VC, a venture capital fund specializing in pre-Seed technology companies, has successfully closed its inaugural fund at the €10 million target. The firm's first close, NewSchool Fund I, reached €6.1 million in September 2025. The investment was supported by fifty backers, comprising six family offices, including The Millers Office, and entrepreneurs from the Belgian business community such as Willem Delbaere, Roeland Delrue, Jean-Louis Van Houwe, and Luc Coopman. Christophe Morbee, the fund's founder and CEO of besox, contributed 25% of the capital.

Morbee, who has been an angel investor for years, decided to establish a structured fund to leverage his expertise in marketing, sales, HR, and finance. His background with besox, a payroll and HR administration provider for SMEs, informs the fund's focus on pre-Seed and Seed stage B2B technology companies at the intersection of AI, SaaS, cybersecurity, robotics, and compliance.

To date, the fund has made 32 investments, with 75% located in Belgium and the rest distributed across Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom. Some of its portfolio companies, such as Ravical, Warren, Spotable, and Donna, have since raised subsequent funding rounds.

Morbee expressed his belief in Europe's strong engineering talent and the need for leaders to handle go-to-market strategies, sales, and storytelling. The fund sees abundant potential for growth in automating traditional industries.
