Autostrada reveals UAH 15 billion debt that forced it to halt work

Ukraine owes the construction company Autostrada approximately UAH 15 billion for completed projects, according to founder Maksym Shkil. Of this amount, UAH 6.5 billion is already in the Treasury's possession, but payment delays have persisted for about a week. The suspension of state and local budget funding has also halted capital expenditure payments nationwide, causing Autostrada to temporarily cease operations on its state-funded projects.

Shkil emphasized that the decision came abruptly, without any prior discussion or communication, leaving businesses with no choice but to adjust their plans. While work on Autostrada projects will continue until the end of September, the company anticipates winding down production and mothballing sites. Among the unpaid projects, Shkil highlighted repairs to major highways, protection of energy facilities, and the Zaporizhzhia-Tomakivka-Marhanets water pipeline.

In Kyiv, the company's metro extension plans have been revised following a budget cut, but remains on schedule. Shkil expressed hope for constructive dialogue with the government, stressing the importance of infrastructure for Ukraine's economic resilience and calling for the restoration of financing for key projects.
