Armed robbers raid TSU students’ residences in Jalingo

A series of armed robberies targeted student residences at Taraba State University (TSU) in Jalingo's ATC area on Monday night, September 21, 2026. The assailants reportedly infiltrated several residences between 1 am and 3 am, absconding with phones, laptops, power banks and other valuables. The DAILY POST observed that the incident followed a similar attack on the School of Nursing and Midwifery hostels a few days prior.

Affected homes included Dior Compound, Strawers Villa, Mumbai Compound and 3 Brothers Villa. According to Abel Muda, a university community source, additional residences along the Alaba to Agric Gate axis were also hit during the operation. Witnesses reported that the robbers broke doors and windows to gain entry, forcing some students to flee into the surrounding bushes out of fear.

While no injuries have been confirmed at the time of this report, the victims have suffered significant material losses and are experiencing psychological distress. Students have implored TSU management, ATC community leaders, the Taraba State Police Command and other security agencies to increase night patrols and bolster security around student residences.

As of now, neither the police nor university management have released an official statement confirming the incident.
