Apple executive shot dead in 2018. 8 years later, ‘only half justice’

In the early hours of September 29, 2018, Apple sales executive Vivek Tiwari was fatally shot in Lucknow during a police check. Tiwari and his colleague, Sana Khan, were driving home from work when they were signaled to stop by constables Prashant Chaudhary and Sandeep Kumar. The constables accused Tiwari of refusing to stop and continued driving, prompting Chaudhary to fatally shoot Tiwari with his service pistol.

The constables then fled the scene, leaving Tiwari to crash into a divider. Sana sought help and rushed her husband to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A court has now sentenced Chaudhary to 10 years in prison for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, while Kumar has been acquitted. Tiwari's family, however, believes the sentence is incomplete and plans to challenge it.

The family's wife, Kalpana, expressed her dissatisfaction with the legal outcome, stating that the incident was a clear case of murder.
