An assault on Negeri Sembilan’s constitutional monarchy and rule of law

The group, which includes former presidents of the Malaysian Bar, claims the move is an "egregious violation" of the state's constitution and a direct assault on the institution of the constitutional monarchy.

They say the removal of a reigning constitutional sovereign is an extraordinary measure that must be conducted through a full and complete enquiry, which has not taken place, and a proclamation signed by the state's highest officials. The experts say the purported proclamation is invalid and that the executive council does not have the constitutional power to carry out such a removal. They urge the federal government to intervene and restore order.
