The Cincinnati RedHawks suffered a loss of 35-31 to the Cincinnati Bearcats at TQL Stadium, resulting in the Bearcats gaining possession of the Victory Bell. The crucial fumble occurred after the final buzzer, where the bell fell from its stand, rolled onto a table, and ultimately tumbled onto the grass. The Bearcats' defensive lineman Marquaze Parker, and offensive lineman Joe Cotton, were seen attempting to carry the heavy bell but managed to get it back on its stand.

UC broadcaster Chase Younts captured the incident on video, emphasizing the weight of the Victory Bell and stating that everything was fine. However, the victory took on an extra layer of significance when Bearcats players rushed to retrieve the bell and place it back on its stand. Furthermore, two Bearcats players, Marquaze Parker and Joe Cotton, handed the bell to Antwan Peek Sr., a former Bearcats star, so that he could ring it.

Antwan Peek Jr., Peek Sr.'s son, forced the fumble that ultimately led to the victory. This memorable moment at TQL Stadium was captured by Chase Younts, who tweeted, "Make no mistake: it’s heavy," confirming the difficulty in handling the Victory Bell.
