The operation, conducted by Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere, targeted a go-fast vessel that was reportedly operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the region.

US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) confirmed that intelligence indicated the vessel's active involvement in drug trafficking. The statement accompanying the announcement included video footage showing the aftermath of the strike, displaying a moving boat followed by a significant explosion.

The US has intensified its efforts to curb drug-smuggling routes, particularly under President Donald Trump, who has vowed to wage war against drug cartels.
