[UPDATED] Anwar to meet Loke over resignation

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to meet Anthony Loke to discuss the latter's resignation from the Cabinet, according to reports after the Perintis Reformis Reunion Hi-Tea in Shah Alam. Loke had informed Anwar of his decision, but they have yet to have a formal discussion. Anwar emphasized the need to hear Loke's views before making a decision, noting that Loke is a principled individual who has consistently opposed measures that could give the impression of weakness or leniency towards corruption.

Loke's resignation came after the Federal Territories Pardons Board granted former Prime Minister Najib Razak conditional house arrest for his SRC International conviction. Anwar stated that the matter should be addressed one step at a time, following a three-hour DAP central executive committee meeting. Loke is currently traveling to Shanghai, China, and Anwar will be in the same city on Tuesday, after talks with Premier Li Qiang.
